God Uses What Man Deems Useless
There was once an old donkey who was abandoned in the wilderness by its owner since it had become extremely weak and worn out. The donkey could barely walk and rested near a hill to spend its last days. After a few days, it laid itself down and died. The donkey did not know that God had a purpose for it.
After some time, the vultures and foxes started to pick off chunks of flesh from the donkey. It was a sorry sight. God looked down at the donkey and said, “I still can use this donkey.” Then the ants and other scavenging insects of the wild came and cleared up what the vultures and foxes had left behind. The donkey was now just a skeleton, but God still had a purpose for it.
Then came along Samson with his seven locks of hair dancing in the wind. The man looked around for a weapon to wield against his Philistine enemies, and found a fresh jawbone of a donkey and grabbed it.
And with the apparently worthless and useless jawbone, he slew a thousand men (Judges 15: 11-17).
God uses what the world thinks useless and past its shelf life to accomplish astonishing feats. So, remember if people have written you off, called you “useless” or treated you as “insignificant,” get ready!
