Have you heard of the Four Spiritual Laws?
What are the Four Spiritual Laws of Salvation?
The Four Spiritual Laws are a method of proclaiming the good news of salvation, which is available by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Salvation is only through Christ because His suffering and death on the cross is the basis for our justification, redemption, and propitiation. Salvation maintains God’s infinite grace and fair justice, upholds the commandments, and sets up the principles of faith. It also gives us a new position before God in that we become sons and daughters of the Supreme Being through Jesus.
The Four Spiritual Laws is an effective way of organizing the essential information found in the Gospel into four points. The Book of Romans lays out a detailed plan for salvation and explains the message of salvation in an easy, powerful, and structured manner.
Many physical laws regulate the Universe, in the same manner, there are spiritual laws that manage our relationship with our Almighty Father.
Before we delve into the Four Spiritual Laws, let us first understand God’s plan of salvation in the Bible.
Jesus is God’s plan for salvation. Jesus Christ whose life, message, and ministry are documented in the four canonical gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John is the principal character, the protagonist, in the narrative of the Bible. The name Jesus is the Greek form of the Hebrew-Aramaic word “Yeshua,” meaning “Yahweh [the Lord] is salvation.” We should get to know Christ to start on our journey of salvation.
The Four Spiritual Laws (Law #1)
The first of the Four Spiritual Laws is, God loves us and offers an amazing plan for our lives. Our Creator created us to know Him personally.
God’s Love
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16. This verse affirms the plan God has for us: eternal life.
God’s Plan
[Christ speaking] I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. [that it might be abundant and meaningful]. John 10:10. This verse gives us the reason why Jesus Christ came into the world.
What is blocking us from accessing God’s unfathomable love? What is stopping us from having a plentiful life full of joy and strength for spirit, soul, and body? SIN
The Four Spiritual Laws (Law #2)
The second of the Four Spiritual Laws is that we are corrupted by sin and therefore separated from God. God created humans to have a personal relationship with them, but we destroyed that relationship. So, we cannot know Him personally or experience His love and plan for our lives. Our obstinate self-will characterized by an attitude of active rebellion or passive indifference has led us to go on our independent path is confirmation of what the Bible calls sin.
Humans are Sinful
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23. This verse affirms the information that we brought sin into the world and ruined our relationship with God Almighty.
Humans are Separated
The wages of sin is death [spiritual separation from God]. Romans 6:23. This verse gives us the consequences of sin.
The above diagram shows us that God is holy and humans are sinful. A great gulf divides the two. The arrows illustrate that humans are continuously trying to reach God and the abundant life He has promised through their efforts, such as a morally upright life, philosophy, or religion—but they inevitably have failed and will so in the future.
How can we repair our relationship with God and possess the life He intended us to have? What is the solution? The only way to bridge this gulf is JESUS CHRIST
The Four Spiritual Laws (Law #3)
The third of the Four Spiritual Laws is, Jesus is the only atoning sacrifice for our sins. Through Him and Him alone, we can know God personally and experience His abundant mercy and plan for our lives. God reconciled to Himself all things through Jesus. Christ having restored our perfect relationship with God, also opened the door for us to live in the right relationships with each other, the Creation, and ourselves.
He Died in Our Place
God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8.
He Rose From the Dead
Christ died for our sins…He was buried…He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred… 1 Corinthians 15:3-6.
He is the Only Way to God
Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.” John 14:6.
We need to know and believe that Jesus died for sins and is the only way to our Loving Father in Heaven.
This diagram shows that God has linked the gulf that separates humanity from Him by sending His only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross in our place to pay the penalty for our sins.
How can we receive this wonderful gift of salvation? SIMPLY BELIEVE AND ASK HIM.
It is not enough to know just these three truths…
The Four Spiritual Laws (Law #4)
The Fourth of the Four Spiritual Laws is, we must place our faith in Jesus Christ and receive Him as our Lord and Savior to receive the gift of salvation and know God’s awesome plan for our lives.
Receiving Christ requires turning our eyes away from self (repentance) to God and trusting Jesus to enter our lives and forgive us our sins and reshape us to what He wants us to be. Believing that Christ is the Son of God and He bore our sins and died on the cross is not enough. Neither is an emotional experience good enough. We need to receive Jesus by faith as an act of our will.
We Must Receive Christ
As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name. John 1:12
We Receive Christ Through Faith
By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast. Ephesians 2:8,9
We Receive Christ by Personal Invitation
[Christ speaking] Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him. Revelation 3:20.
When We Receive Christ, We Experience a New Birth
Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, You must be born again. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” John 3:1-8
The above diagram shows two circles, which represent two kinds of lives. The self-directed life and the Christ-directed life. WHICH CIRCLE BEST REPRESENTS OUR LIVES? WHICH CIRCLE WOULD WE LIKE TO HAVE TO REPRESENT OUR LIVES?
Receive Christ Right Now by Faith Through Prayer
Prayer is directly talking to God and listening to God’s voice. It is opening your hearts—your deepest fears, desires, joy, and sadness—and letting God know how you feel. You pray because you want to be close to your Father in Heaven, and He wants you to be close to Him.
God knows the thoughts of your mind and is not very much concerned with your vocabulary as He is with the inner workings of your heart. The following is a recommended prayer:
The Sinner’s Prayer for Forgiveness of Sins
If this prayer expresses the desire of your heart, say this prayer immediately, and Jesus will come into your life as promised. This prayer is a simple way to express to God your faith in Him and thank Him for the gift of salvation. Trust in Jesus and be saved.
The 4 Spiritual Laws stress the need for a complete understanding of the scriptures and the commitment of our hearts through repentance for salvation.
